Getting Around Melbourne
Walking and cycling
As the city is relatively flat, it is easy to walk and cycle around. There are a number of scenic walking and cycling trails that are waiting to be discovered and will lead you to some excellent cafes and restaurants as well as shops and attractions.

Public Transport
If you are staying in the CBD, you will find that most of the shops, restaurants, bars and attractions are within walking distance, and as for those that aren't, well they are simply a short tram, bus or train ride away. All three forms of transport are easy and reliable to use and run throughout city. You will be able to get around Melbourne easily and at a cheaper rate than the other forms of transportation.

Taxi
It is always easy to spot a cab (bright yellow) in Melbourne and there is always one around to hail from the road or you will come across many taxi ranks around the city. Alternatively you could always call and book a taxi.

Ferry
There are regular ferry services from South Bank on the Yarra River and around to Williamstown. This is a great way to travel and take in the lovely scenery at the same time. For more information visit their website
Car Rental
You will find a number of car rental companies in the city. Keep in mind that when driving in the city you may have to perform a hook-turn occasionally as the tram lines use the same roads as the cars. The minimum age to rent a car is 25, however some companies will rent to people below 25 usually with additional surcharges and restrictions.
