Getting to the Whitsundays
Air
Two airports service Whitsundays: the Great Barrier Reef Airport, Hamilton Island, and the Whitsunday Coast Airport, Proserpine.
Great Barrier Reef Airport
This airport, located on Hamilton Island is serviced by the following airlines and has connecting flights from all the major cities in Australia:
Major Carriers
From Hamilton Island, you can transfer with Blue Ferries to Shute Harbour. From there you have the choice of taking a Shuttle Bus or Taxi to Airlie Beach.
Whitsunday Coast Airport
Whitsunday Coast Airport, Proserpine, is situated around 25 minutes from Airlie Beach. This airport is serviced by the following airlines:
To transfer to Arlie Beach, you can arrange to be picked up and dropped at you accommodation with Whitsunday Transit
Train
If you would like to travel by train then Queensland Rail operates between Cairns and Brisbane, giving you the chance to take in some spectacular views of the outback while you travel. You can travel by train up to Proserpine, after which you will need to transfer to Airlie Beach.
Bus
Travelling by coach is a great way to take in the scenery while you get to your destination. There are two coach lines that can get you to Airlie beach, Greyhound and Premier Coaches.
Car
